Drawtober 2025

For drawtober this year I alternated between 2 prompt lists - cozy and spooky. I was using this as an opportunity to create and test designs for my Halloween product line that will come out for 2026! I wanted to pace myself, so I sketched out all prompts in my sketchbook, then picked the top 4 from each week (2 cozy and 2 spooky) and finished them into full art pieces. Some of these will become products as is, some will serve as inspiration for future projects, and others will just serve as a fun drawing for the time it was created.

Inktober 2025

My initial plan was to just do Drawtober the month before for 2025 and the post them throughout October… but I can’t resist a challenge and made the dumb decision of doing Inktober daily in addition to having already down drawtober lol. I had made an inktober essentials list with supplies for everyone to look at and then inspired myself to take part lol. I did choose to pull out this tiny sketchbook a good friend gave me ages ago to restrict myself to staying small, and that was a good choice.

#TheyDrawtober - 2021

I did this drawing challenge in one day, haha. I sat on my couch and did them all i the same file. Loose line art, experimented with coloring, and had a really good time. Drawing challenges don’t have to be monumentous, they can be easy and fun too 😊

A green background with colorful text and a pink apple illustration, listing 31 fall-themed food and drink items for October, including caramel apples, pumpkin latte, s'mores, mulled wine, figs, maple tarts, apple pie, chestnuts, cinnamon roll, spicy cocktail, pumpkin cookies, wild mushrooms, spices, beer and pretzels, autumn salad, acorn squash, donuts, apples, chai tea, soup, pumpkin roll, harvest corn, pomegranates, root veggies, decorated cupcake, candy, apple cider, pumpkin pie, campfire cooking, witches brew, Halloween cake; with a hashtag #THEYDRAWTOBER and the slogan '31 Flavors in 31 Days!'

Drawtober 2020

I wanted an easy fun challenge that got me drawing everyday but didn’t stress me out, so I made a mini challenge! I did 2” drawings in 200 seconds, and that was it, and it was quite fun!

A Halloween-themed list of 31 mini drawing prompts with spooky orange background, bats, spiders, and cobwebs. Title: "Mini Draw-tober 2 inch drawings in 200 seconds."

30 Places in 30 Days - 2020

During lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic, I just moved to Atlanta and had picked the city specifically so I could have cheap flights to travel places. Obviously that did not happen. lol so because I couldn't go places, I made up places instead. Each day I would go into my reference folder, that held images from the Internet of photos and art and color palettes that I like, liked, and pick 5 to 6 random images inspiration. Then I would create an environment based on the prompt and the reference images. I also hid a snail in each image if you want to play iSpy for a bit. 😊

Huevember 2019

Inktober is all about inking black and white drawings, and Huevember is all about coloring those drawings! So I took me Medieval Mammals from October, and made some color palettes to work from.

Inktober 2019 - Medieval Mammals

I wanted a solid theme I could really embrace this year, so I went with Medieval Mammals. I research all the different types of jobs someone could have during that time period, and paired them up with random mammals. I did all the inks in October, and then colored them for HueVember the following month! It was very motivated that year.

A list titled 'Inktober 2019: SleepyHeadKL's Medieval Mammals' with 31 animal-themed characters including ferret minstrel, polar bear mason, bunny laundress, black bear blacksmith, muskox sailor, coyote dishwasher, wolverine soothsayer, moose baker, skunk cartographer, opossum doctor, mole fisherman, otter florist, prairie dog shoemaker, elk artist, wolf leather worker, bat advisor, buffalo treasurer, badger tailor, beaver stable attendant, raccoon executioner, sugar glider wizard, goat jester, puma apothecary, mouse knight, armadillo armorer, squirrel butcher, ram farmer, antelope squire, grizzly bear cook, fox candle stick maker, and chipmunk dancer.
